2007-08 Exceptional Driver Championship presented by Golf Mesquite, Nevada
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
Format: The 2008 Exceptional Driver Championship will consist of seven rounds plus quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.
Field: 140 EDC competitors. Before competition begins, via a blind
draw, tournament officials will divide the field into two groups of
seventy. Each group of 70 will be divided into 7 groups of ten.
Round 1: Competitors in each group of ten complete a five-ball set.
(Bonus ball awarded for 5 balls that land and rest in the grid)
Round 2: Competitors in the group of ten complete a five-ball set.
The top three competitors with the highest combined totals of round 1
and 2 will advance to Round 5 on Friday. The other 7 competitors move
into the loser’s bracket for Round 3.
Round 3: 7 competitors in the group complete a five-ball set. The top
two competitors with the highest combined total of rounds 1, 2, 3, will
advance to round 4. The others are eliminated.
Round 4: Fourteen competitors (2 from each group of 7) from round 3
will complete a five-ball set. The top four finishers advance to Round
5. The others are eliminated.
Round 5/Round6: Fifty winners from Wednesday and Thursday are divided
into 2 groups of 25. The groups of 25 are divided into 5 groups of 5.
Each competitor will complete a five-ball set in round 5 and round 6.
The top two competitors in each group of 5 with the highest total from
round 5 and 6 will advance to Round 7. The others are eliminated.
Round 7: Twenty competitors divided 2 groups of 10 will complete a
five-ball set. The top 3 winners from each group of ten will advance to
the Quarterfinals, plus two wild cards. The Competitors will be seeded
according to their points from round 7. The others are eliminated.
Quarterfinals: First round matches involve seeds 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3
vs. 6, and 4 vs. 5. The four winners advance to the Semifinals matches.
Semifinals: The second round matches feature one vs. four and two vs. three. The two winners advance to the finals match.
Finals: The championship final pits the winners Five vs. Six. The winner is crowned Exceptional Driver Champion of the 2008.
