SADLOWSKI BAGS
FIRST LDA TOUR TITLE
CIURLUINI SACKS SECOND STRAIGHT SENIOR WIN

Jamie Sadlowski had accomplished virtually everything else of note in professional long drive - including winning two RE/MAX world championships and two RE/MAX junior world crowns.

All by the tender age of 21.

So it stood to reason the Canadian sensation might as well add a title at an LDA Tour event to his impressive credentials.

Which Sadlowski did at LDA's 2010 Texas Shootout, mesmerizing an enthusiastic throng at Trophy Club CC by pounding into submission a blue-chip field.

Jamie Sadlowski - 2010 Texas Shootout Champion

Sadlowski blistered a winning drive of 429 yards to defeat Tom Roskos, who posted 415 yards, in the match-play finals.

Having pocketed the $10,000 winner's check, Sadlowski, just for grins took a shot at his own grid record of 437 yards, which he had established at Trophy Club CC while winning the second of his two world junior crowns in 2006.

Rising to the occasion, spurred on by an audience enthralled with his 140+ mph swing speed, Sadlowski smoked a final drive that rolled to a stop at 445 yards.

Goodnight, nurse.

Sadlowski shared center stage at Trophy Club CC on April 30 with Vince Ciurluini, who registered his second consecutive senior division win of the 2010 campaign.

Ciurluini bested reigning RE/MAX world champion Bobby Wilson in the match-play finals, 415-411, to collect a $4,050 payday.

In the process, Ciurluini avenged a tough loss at the 2009 Desert Duel in Mesquite (Nevada). There Wilson claimed his record 12th tour title with some sixth-ball heroics, spoiling Pasta Man's debut in the senior division. Since then, Ciurluini has been bulletproof.

Sadlowski Cashes In For $10,000

Eight open division quarterfinalists set the tone for a nonpareil performance of power golf. Taking advantage of an ideal evening with no wind - a stark contrast to the blustery conditions during April 29 qualifying rounds at City Pointe Golf Center in Dallas - the eight Texas Shootout cashers peeled off four bills (400 yards) with regularity.

Sadlowski set the pace in the 8-for-4 round with 432 yards and Roskos chimed in with 427 yards, earning the pair the top two seeds.

Sadlowski handled Patrick Hopper 436-425 in one semifinal, while Roskos defeated Jason Eslinger 415-413 in the other.

Roskos, who finished in the Texas Shootout top eight for a fifth consecutive year, earned $5,000; Hopper and Eslinger collected $2,500 apiece.

LDA's 2010 schedule continues with the Tennessee Shootout in Greeneville on June 12.

Registration remains open for this members-only event. The Tennessee Shootout field will be capped at 48 open division competitors.

ROSKOS EARNS TOP SEED FOR TEXAS SHOOTOUT FINALS

8 OPEN & 2 SENIOR FINALISTS BATTLE THROUGH A BLUE-CHIP FIELD
Eight of the world's premier power golfers, including two-time reigning RE/MAX world champion Jamie Sadlowksi, advanced to tonight's open division quarterfinals of LDA's 2010 Texas Shootout during qualifying rounds at City Pointe Golf Center in Dallas on Thursday, April 29.

Battling brutal headwinds in excess of 35mph, with gusts topping 40mph, LDA's power elite saw their best efforts, which typically approach 400 yards in normal conditions, severely curtailed.

Tom Roskos - 425 Yard Qualifying Drive

Pennsylvania-based PGA professional Tom Roskos topped the hit parade at City Pointe with a 325-blast, epic under the conditions. Sadlowski advanced with a drive of 313 yards.
Five of tonight's quarterfinalists -- Roskos, Sadlowski, Alex DeVilling, Zac Adams and Jeff Gavin - also made the top eight at LDA's 2009 Texas Shootout.

Roskos, in fact, will be making his fifth consecutive appearance in the Texas Shootout top eight. He is still seeking his first LDA title.

Tonight's field includes the winners of the past two LDA Tour events: Gavin captured LDA's 2009 Desert Duel last August, while Jason Eslinger claimed the title at LDA's 2010 Desert Launch in March.

The senior division final pits reigning RE/MAX senior world champion Bobby Wilson, a Waco native and the winningest player in LDA Tour history, against Vince "Pasta Man" Ciurluini.

BLUE-CHIP FIELD OF BIG HITTERS SET FOR LDA'S 2010 TEXAS SHOOTOUT
RE/MAX World Champions Sadlowski, Wolter, Dobbyn Top The Bill

ROANOKE, TEXAS (April 14, 2010) - A trio of RE/MAX world long drive champions including Canadian sensation Jamie Sadlowski headline the field for Long Drivers of America's 2010 Texas Shootout, coming to the Dallas/Fort Worth area on April 29-30.

Sadlowski (2008-09), Mike Dobbyn (2007) and Carl Wolter (2002) have each claimed the RE/MAX world title and been recognized universally as "the longest driver in golf".

Wolter also padded his impressive resume by capturing the 2009 Texas Shootout.

They and 34 other sultans of swing speed will be competing for a $10,000 top prize in one of the most anticipated events of the professional long drive season.

Qualifying rounds for LDA's 2010 Texas Shootout take place on Thursday, April 29 at City Pointe Golf Center in Dallas (Stemmons Freeway at I635). The top eight hitters advance to the match-play rounds at Trophy Club CC (west of D/FW International Airport on Highway 114) on Friday evening, April 30.

Admission is free both days. The evening's card at Trophy Club CC also includes an Adams Golf club demo session and a trick shot show featuring noted golf entertainer Art Sellinger (LDA's owner and chief executive officer), as well as match-play finals in the Texas Shootout's senior (45+) division.

Among pre-tournament favorites in the senior division is LDA Hall of Fame member Bobby Wilson, a Waco native and the reigning RE/MAX senior world champion. Kyle Sawyer of Bossier City, La., is defending Texas Shootout senior champion.

Among other open division notables in the field for LDA's 2010 Texas Shootout are:
Jerimie Montgomery - Runner-up to Sadlowski at the 2009 RE/MAX world finals.
Jason Eslinger - Winner of LDA's 2010 Desert Launch in March.
Jeff Gavin - Winner of LDA's 2009 Desert Duel last August.
Kevin Shook - Winner of LDA's 2009 Texas Two-Step and runner-up to Eslinger at the 2010 Desert Launch.

Long drive competition is action-packed and adrenaline-drenched. Hitters, whose swing speeds top 140 mph (115 is average for a PGA Tour player) have 2:45 to complete a six-ball set.

Drives exceeding 400 yards (four bills in long drive parlance) are commonplace. Sadlowski, for example, blasted drives of 437 yards (semis) and 420 yards (finals) while winning the RE/MAX Junior World Championship at Trophy Club in 2006.

He was 17 years old at the time.

2009 RECAP:

Dallas Cowboy Rookie Gibbons Claims Celebrity Long Drive Title

Proceeds Benefit DFW Center for Autism

In LDA's Celebrity Long Drive Charity Challenge preceding the Texas Shootout finals, Dallas Cowboy rookie Ryan Gibbons defeated teammate Mat McBriar and former MLB star Kenny Rogers in a hilarious three-hitter final.

Gibbons, an offensive guard, proved that hitting the golf ball deep is not limited to professional long drivers. With over 1,000 fans chanting for the deep ball, the big man with an ever-present grin posted impressive yardages of 372, 377 and 381.

The Trophy Club CC crowd roared as LDA's Art Sellinger presented the DFW Center for Autism in Grapevine with a $5,000 check in Gibbons's name.

The celebrity event opened with a highly anticipated grudge match between DFW radio personalities George "Jub Jub" Dunham and Corby "Cobra" Davidson, both from Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket.

While Davidson filled the grid with balls at 283, 278, 268 and 294 yards, Dunham smoked his sixth and final ball 316 yards, igniting an impromptu victory dance.

Other notables competing in the celebrity event were Dallas Cowboy Jon Kitna, NFL legend Russell Maryland, former NFL punter Jeff Gossett, WFAA sports anchor Joe Trahan and FSNs DFW Sports Beat host Brady Tinker.

Wolter Wins Texas Shootout With Sixth-Ball Heroics

Carl Wolter came through in the clutch, launching a massive 397-yard moon ball, to claim the open division title at LDA's Texas Shootout Presented by Toyota of Lewisville.

Wolter's sixth-ball heroics produced a 397-380 match-play win over runner-up Allen McDougall.

Wolter collected $13,000 for the win. McDougall earned $8,000.

In semifinal matches, Wolter, the 2002 RE/MAX world champion, defeated Alex DeVilling, an LD rookie competing in his first event, 385-377. McDougall bested Tom Roskos, 390-OB.

Roskos posted the longest drive of the evening -- 410 yards -- in the 8-for-4 shootout that opened the evening's activities at Trophy Club Country Club, where a crowd estimated at 1,000 gathered to watch professional long drive's finest. Wolter was next in line with 409 yards.

Four of the eight competitors who survived elimination rounds at City Pointe Driving Range failed to find the grid in the shootout. Headed to the sidelines early in the evening were Jeff Gavin, Zac Adams, Jason Frey and Jamie Sadlowski.

Sadlowski, the reigning RE/MAX world champion, had led the power parade at City Pointe with 421 yards in Round 7 of the winner's bracket.

Semifinalists Roskos and DeVilling pocketed $4,500. It marked the fourth consecutive year Roskos cashed at the Texas tour event.
